At Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC), we are committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that reflects the rich diversity of our community. This commitment extends throughout our recruitment and admissions practices, ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities for all. MWCC’s recruitment and admissions practices actively work to build a diverse and inclusive learning environment, recognizing the unique value that each individual brings to the college community. MWCC cultivates an enrollment experience where each student feels seen, heard, and valued, by committing to the following:

We celebrate diversity: Our mission statement explicitly emphasizes our commitment to engaging in practices with a racial equity lens. MWCC is committed to recruitment practices grounded in diversity, equity, and inclusion; highlighting our belief in the value of individuals from all backgrounds.

We encourage applications from all backgrounds: We actively reach out to diverse populations through outreach programs, partnerships with community organizations, and informational sessions in a variety of formats, times, and locations.

We embrace a holistic selective admissions process: We consider various aspects of an applicant’s potential, going beyond traditional metrics to recognize individual work and academic experiences.

By implementing these practices, MWCC aims to create a learning environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. We believe that diversity enriches the educational experience for all and fosters a more vibrant and successful college community.

Getting an Affordable Degree at MWCC

Marymar graduated with her Associates Degree from the Mount, but she isn’t stopping there. She saved thousands of dollars by getting an associate’s degree first and will have less debt when she transfers to a 4-year college.

Going Back to School as an Adult

Jennifer decided to go back to college after her youngest child started school. As a grown adult, she was worried that she was too old to go back to college, and was afraid she wouldn’t fit in with the other students. Instead, she found that she was easily accepted as one of the many older students who decided to return to college to re-start their careers at the Mount.
“For those who are battling a disability, MWCC encouraged me and gave me a solid foundation to achieve my educational and career goals. There were times that I felt like giving up, but I kept moving forward and soon I will start a PhD program. It is all up to you.”

Ricardo Scarello, Computer Information Systems 2007 Graduate
