Pre-law⭑

Prepare Your Path with Pre-Law

The verdict is in! As a lawyer, whether you choose a career in a law firm, a corporation, a nonprofit, in government, or in your own private practice, you will be in a position to make a significant impact. The Mount’s pre-law concentration will start you on the exciting path toward a J.D. degree.

Set a High Bar for Yourself

The American Bar Association (ABA) recommends that future law school students develop core skills such as research and critical reading, writing, and editing. They are all a basic part of the Mount’s liberal arts degree with pre-law concentration.

What’s uncommon about our program is our focus on the more abstract ABA-recommended skills like Public Service and Promotion of Justice. The Mount’s pre-law students have the unique choice to add a service learning component to required classes like Logic and College Writing. Students who take these enhanced courses apply their skills to solve a real problem and promote justice in the local community by working directly with a social service agency or nonprofit organization — valuable preparation for law school.

Transfer to a Bachelor’s Degree, Then onto Law School

This will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. The curriculum is challenging, but intellectually exciting. Our focus is to provide you with a solid educational foundation for transfer to a 4-year college or university. The American Bar Association (ABA) requires you to hold a Bachelor’s degree before you can be enrolled in an accredited Law School.
