Meet your MWCC School of Business Professors
The MWCC business faculty goal is to build a learning community for business students.

An interview with
MWCC Business faculty; (L-R)
Prof. John
Reilly
Dr. Michael T.
Greenwood
Prof. Linda
Bolduc
What does the MWCC business program prepare students
for?
Prof
Reilly: Careers in businesses, small business
ownership and a solid preparation for transfer to a
four year business college or university.
Dr.
Greenwood: Between 2002 and 2012 employment in
today’s business fields is expected to grow by 21%.
This is
a very practical degree for students that want to
contribute to society in a business framework.
Who should enroll as a business degree student?
Prof:
Bolduc: Students interested in a business career
and possess the self-discipline to pursue their studies
seriously, like to working on a team, and have a passion
for creative ideas.
Also the
program is perfect for students planning to undertake a
leadership role not only in their respective major
program of study, but in the community, as well.
Prof.
Reilly: Also many students enroll in the business
program when they are not sure of their major but they
know they will need a degree that prepares them to work
and get a job in a variety of fields.
What are the business program’s greatest strengths?
Prof.
Reilly: Our MWCC business faculty are recognized
for their teaching ability and the impressive array of
local, national and international business credentials
they bring to the classroom. Professor Linda Bolduc’s
expertise is in accounting,
Dr.
Greenwood has held international executive positions in
marketing and advertising and my background is in
management. When you put us together, we make a
formidable team ready to meet our students halfway to
help them meet their goals.
Dr.
Greenwood: Our goal is to build a learning
community for our business students.
The
Mount business program stresses strong academic rigor,
leadership, critical thinking, credit for service
learning and the applied business skills needed on the
job.
We all
work to make each class fun and relevant. We recently
added a business capstone class called Strategic
Management. Business students usually take this class in
their final semester.
Prof.
Bolduc: The business capstone course includes a
final business case study presentation before officials
of the college and business community as well as
extensive writing projects.
It's
challenging and fun.
What can students with a business administration
associate’s degree do next?
Prof.
Bolduc: They can certainly take a job in the
business world.
A
two-year degree in business gives students a solid
foundation, but we strongly encourage students to build
on that by entering a business program at a four-year
college or university after two years at the Mount. Most
of our business students expect to continue their
education, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
What are the Business Degree Options at MWCC?
Dr.
Greenwood: We have the business training and degree
program that works for our students and their schedules.
Our programs are flexible and focused on student
success.
We offer
two year degree programs with career map program
concentration areas that allow students to customize
their business education to suit their career and
academic goals.
We offer
degree and certificate options. And new electives are
always in development.
For
example we are very excited about offering a new
leadership course this winter.
How many degree options are there?
Prof.
Bolduc: We offer a Business Administration degree
where students spend two years acquiring a broad view of
business operations by taking courses in one of several
career tracks such as management, general business,
accounting and marketing. Graduates will gain the
knowledge and skills necessary to obtain an entry-level
position in a business organization, explore career
fields or transfer.
Prof.
Reilly: Most students consider pursuing at the
bachelor’s degree level, or enhance a current career by
gaining the skills and knowledge necessary for
advancement.
Dr.
Greenwood: We also offer a Business Administration
degree for students with immediate transfer goals. This
transfer focused degree option prepares students to
transfer to a four-year college or university through
program concentration areas in accounting, management
and business. Our transfer department has all the
details.
Editors
note:
Our transfer team makes this very easy with many joint
admissions business degree agreements with colleges such
as; Bridgewater State College, Fitchburg State College,
Framingham State College, Salem State College, Westfield
State College and Worcester State College, University of
Massachusetts-Amherst, UMASS Dartmouth, UMASS Lowell and
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Articulation
agreements exist with Charter Oaks State College and the
University of Phoenix. This program qualifies for the
Franklin University Community College Alliance program.
Can you tell me about the business certificate option?
Prof.
Bolduc: If students are not sure if a two year
degree is right for them or if they need a quick
business refresher then our business certificate program
is just for them.
Dr.
Greenwood: Students in our certificate program are
exposed to a broad array of courses and learn
fundamental skills and knowledge needed for a business
career.
It is a
great option if you who have a limited amount of time to
attain an education, would like a background in
business, or would like to explore business before
pursing a college degree.
What are the next steps?
Prof.
Reilly: Students should feel free to contact Prof.
Bolduc, Prof Greenwood or myself with any career or
degree questions.
And, of
course, anyone interested in enrolling or changing their
major should contact the admissions office at(978)
630-9110, or email admissions@mwcc.mass.edu.
Any final thoughts?
Dr.
Greenwood: Yes, let's be careful out there.
