Program Overview
The BCT program prepares students for careers in the television, radio, recording, multimedia, and cable industries.
Students acquire both technical and communications skills through academic coursework, production skills training, and on-the-air experience. Equipment and facilities include: two state-of-the-art television studios, four audio studios, DVC-Pro electronic field production equipment, Avid digital video editing suites, and DigiDesign/ProTools audio recording equipment. Students can gain valuable experience by producing live and taped programming aired over MWCC's community cable TV channel.
MWCC Alumnus Bob Oakes has been Assistant News Director and Morning Edition's Anchor for WBUR since 1992. He is one of the most well known and respected news people in New England, with a twenty-year career in radio broadcasting, including ten years with Boston's all-news commercial radio station WEEI, and coverage of national issues for the CBS Radio Network.
“I believe I learned more about broadcasting in two years at The Mount than I have in any concentrated two-year period since. I was a sophomore in college and I had an internship at a radio station because of The Mount. I have always thanked The Mount for allowing us to intern as 19-year-old sophomores, as opposed to 21-year-old seniors elsewhere.”
