Our Mission

To improve the utilization of the renewable forest resource of Massachusetts for enhanced productivity and quality of life for its citizenry by:

  1. Promoting the effective stewardship of the public and private forests of the Commonwealth;
  2. Assisting private enterprise in the creation, maintenance, expansion, and marketing of forest products, including underutilized materials;
  3. Promoting and demonstrating the role of forest biomass as a sustainable renewable energy source addressing the concerns of air quality, greenhouse emissions, and forest management practices;
  4. Providing education in the skills and technologies relevant to the creation, maintenance, and improvement of a forest products industry which is competitive in a global economy;
  5. Providing educational opportunities and promoting public awareness that addresses the issue of the balance of forest management and utilization as a means of sustaining forest resources.
