Distance Learning ProgramsThe Forest and Wood Products Institute offers a number of unique distance learning classes for the wood products industry. Currently available are a number of video-based titles on supervisory and management skills, and Internet-based wood technology courses. Other Internet classes are being developed. Distance learning offers the student the opportunity to take a class at home at their individual pace. The faculty has worked in the fields they teach. The material is relevant and integrates easily into your workday. New material is continuously added to keep the classes up-to-date. Our Wood Products Manufacturing Associates Degree self-directed modular courses are a unique combination of Internet learning, textbook, and at-home class work. The courses currently available are Wood Structure and Properties, and Wood Machining Technology, Introduction to Blueprint Reading, 3-credit courses that cover wood anatomy, identification, and properties and the technology of machining wood and management techniques useful to wood products professionals.
