MOUNT WACHUSETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE DESIGN STUDENTS REAP AWARDS

 

(GARDNER) – For the fifth year in a row, Mount Wachusett Community College Computer Graphic Design students were recognized for design excellence in the Rising Star category of the recent Mary T. Holland Competition for Creative Excellence. The AdClub of Greater Worcester honors the best creative work produced in the past year in advertising and marketing in central New England. The Rising Star Category recognizes the work of students. 

Four Mount Wachusett Community College students won six awards:

  • First Place for Interactive Design went to Diane McSherry Root of Westminster for the MWCC Early Childhood Education.
  • Second Place for Design went to Diane McSherry Root of Westminster for Shackleton School Ad and Brochure.
  • Merit for Design went to Melinda Valadez of Fitchburg for newsletter.
  • Merit for Design went to Joanne Schreiner of Lunenburg for promotional package design.
  • Second Place for Illustration went to Kimberly Conlin of Gardner for a typography poster design.
  • Merit for Illustration went to Diane McSherry Root of Westminster for a typography poster.

"I'm very proud of our students," said Computer Graphic Design Professor Meg Gillis, of Gardner, "For them to receive this recognition as students is a great honor."
