MOUNT
WACHUSETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO GRADUATE
May 13, 2003 (GARDNER) – Fifty-six Nursing graduates will be pinned on Tues., May 20 at 6 p.m., in the theatre at Mount Wachusett Community College. This will be the thirtieth annual Pinning Ceremony, symbolizing a welcoming into the nursing profession. Many of the Nursing graduates will now go on to take the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). For the last two years, one hundred percent of the Nursing graduates who took the exam passed. “This is quite a testament to the quality of this long-standing program,” said MWCC President Daniel M. Asquino. During the ceremony, each graduate will be dressed in uniform and welcomed to the profession by having the nursing pin fastened to his/her lapel by a fellow nurse, whether family, friend, or faculty member. The eight-starred pin is imprinted with the words “Service to Humanity and the World” with the nursing symbol in the middle. “ We are proud of MWCC’s legacy of graduating future nurses. For thirty-years, this program has welcomed graduates to a profession that provides a critical and humane service,” said Asquino. “This program has grown tremendously through the years. Most recently, MWCC began offering day and evening programs; launched a new Practical Nurse Certificate in January at our new Orange campus; and has collaborated with area organizations to offer training to address the nursing shortage,” he continued. The Pinning Ceremony is arranged by the Nursing Club. Associate Dean of Health Sciences Deborah Orre will direct the ceremony and Nursing faculty will assist. “We are very proud of our Nursing graduates,” said Orre. “This is a rigorous program and these students have worked very hard to finish the program. We know that they will serve the nursing profession well and we offer them our sincere congratulations.” |
