DESPITE RECENT FIRE--THE SHOW MUST GO ON
(GARDNER)Despite yesterdays blaze which caused $500,00 to $700,000 damage to Mount Wachusett Community Colleges main campus, all weekend performances of the Theatre at the Mount comedy Rumors by Neil Simon will go on as scheduled. Classes, however, are cancelled. Performances will run May 3, 4, 10 and 11 at 8 p.m. and May 5 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for evening performances and $10 for the Sunday matinee. According to Mount Wachusett Community College President Daniel M. Asquino, the clean-up is going well. "We fully expect to be open for classes on Monday. We are fortunate to have an extremely dedicated faculty and staff who have been working to make certain our students will be able to finish out the semester with as little inconvenience as possible." The college also hosted its annual Mount Wachusett Community College Foundation Dinner for over 200 students, faculty, staff and friends of the college as planned last night. "Our faculty and staff were truly amazing," said Asquino. "Despite the extraordinary events that took place yesterday, everyone worked together to make sure that we could recognize our student scholarship winners and honor our Harold E. Drake, Jr. Citizen of the Year Frederick D. Healey and Corporate Citizen of the Year SimplexGrinnell."
