MOUNT WACHUSETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST ANNUAL COMPUTER GRAPHIC DESIGN EXHIBIT

(GARDNER)–The annual Computer Graphic Design (CGD) Spring Exhibit Open House at Mount Wachusett Community College will be held Mon., Apr. 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the main lobby near admissions. The exhibit will feature the work of students enrolled in CGD courses. Exhibited works include logo design, Web design, publications, posters, photomontages and stationery. A "Taste of Spring" exhibit Web page shows a few students pieces that will be exhibited during the open house.

A panel of four judges is selecting works for the exhibit and awarding students for outstanding work in different categories. During the open house, several Honorable Mentions, first place awards in each category, and an award for "Best of Show" will be presented. Judges are Terri Adams, designer and owner of Precision Arts Advertising, Westminster; Maureen Horrigan, designer and owner of Competitive Edge, Gardner; Ilene Lopez, MWCC graphic designer; and Joyce Miller, MWCC art professor.

Last year, the exhibit was part of the biannual Boston Cyberarts Festival. The festival features exhibitions and performances by visual and performing artists, arts organizations, and high-technology professionals who use computer technology as an integral part of their work. According to CGD Department Chair Margaret Gillis, MWCC intends to be part of the Boston Cyberarts Festival again next year.

"Our CGD students work long hours preparing their pieces for both the Worcester Ad Club’s Holland Awards Competition as well as the MWCC exhibit," said Gillis. "We are extremely proud of their dedication and the work they design."
