MOUNT WACHUSETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO OFFER FREE SMALL BUSINESS SEMINAR

 

(GARDNER) – Mount Wachusett Community College and the United States Small Business Administration will present a free seminar, “Starting/Expanding Your Small Business—Today and Tomorrow,” Fri., Feb. 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 127 at the Gardner campus. (Snow date for the event is Fri., Feb. 21.)

This free seminar will assist small business owners, and those planning to start a small business with critical information for starting, growing, financing, and protecting their ideas and their business.

Attendees will learn:

  • What decisions must be made
  • When to make them
  • How to make them better
  • How to get help

Expert presenters will be available to answer questions:

  • Robert W. Harvey, Sr., Vice President, Banknorth and the CRA Coalition
  • Raymond F. LaFond, CBS, vice president, Enterprise Bank and Trust and the CRA Coalition

Harvey and LaFond will discuss small business financing and provide the insight of veteran bankers into what contributes to small business success.

  • Jack Hughes, coordinator of small business, MWCC
  • Michael A. Holbrook, senior management counselor, Central Massachusetts Small Business Development Center at Clark University
  • John W. (Jack) Purdy, Jr., representing the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) has 35 years experience in sales, sales management, marketing, and public relations for large and small organizations, including his own. He will explain how SCORE members provide free counseling to people starting or already in business.
  • Jean Sawyer, assistant director for economic development, U.S. Small Business Administration, will demonstrate the assistance provided by the SBA and how to access it.

Publications will be distributed to attendees from: The Small Business Administration, Massachusetts Division of Employment and Training, SCORE, The Internal Revenue Service and MWCC.
