has information about their research on critical issues
and trends affecting two-year colleges.
FREE: Federal
Resources for Educational Excellence

More than 30 Ffederal agencies formed a working group
in 1997 to make hundreds of federally supported teaching
and learning resources easier to find. The result of
that work is the FREE website. The resources here
focus primarily on K-12 education, but there is enough
applicability to the work done in community colleges
to make a visit to this site worthwhile.
NEASC: New
England Association of Schools and Colleges

NEASC is the accrediting agency of Mount Wachusett
Community College and the public and independent schools,
colleges and universities in the New England states.
Available here is information ranging from the accrediting
process, to policy, to resource publications.

NCLB:

The NCLB Act emphasizes increased accountability for
states, school districts, and schools; greater choice
for parents and students, particularly those attending
low-performing schools; more flexibility for states
and local educational agencies in the use of federal
education dollars; and a stronger emphasis on reading,
especially for our youngest children. The site offers
insight into the federal funding priorities for education
that will impact the college in various ways.

MISER: Massachusetts Institute
for Social and Economic Research

MISER 's research involves planning, strategy, and
forecasting, with a focus on social, economic, and
demographic issues. This work is designed to formulate
new public policy for use by government policy makers,
as well as to develop information systems showing the
relationship between public policy and the economy
of Massachusetts and New England. As the lead agency
in the State Data Center (SDC) program, MISER is the
liaison between the Commonwealth and the U.S. Bureau
of the Census and houses all the latter's data on Massachusetts.

AIP: The American Institute of Philanthropy

Here’s an interesting twist: are you looking
to give money to a philanthropic organization? AIP
is a national charity watchdog service whose purpose
is to help donors make informed giving decisions. The
site provides information about AIP, the charities
they rate, and their method of grading charities. Other
features include tips for giving wisely, useful and
interesting articles on a variety of topics relating
to charitable giving, and more.
Give.org: The Better
Business Bureau’s Wise Giving
Alliance

Another resource for conducting research of America’s
charities. The Alliance reports on nationally charitable
organizations that are the subject of donor inquiries.
These reports include an evaluation of the subject
charity in relation to the voluntary BBB charity standards.
The BBB Wise Giving Alliance offers guidance to donors
on making informed giving decisions through our charity
evaluations, various "tips" publications,
and publishes the quarterly Better Business Bureau
Wise Giving Guide.

in their database. Their free newsletter is filled

Network for Good
