CSPD 709 Quarantine and Isolation—Impact on Local Communities
Quarantine began during the fourteenth century to protect coastal European cities from plague epidemics. Theoretically, quarantine can stop an outbreak of disease, but the level of quarantine that would be necessary today in case of a major outbreak may be impossible to achieve and enforce with large numbers of people. Authorities must consider how it would impact the movement of citizens and supplies in and out of an affected community. This program will raise this question and others for discussion. Open to town officials, medical personnel, and residents of the community. Sponsored by the Wachusett Medical Reserve Corps. CEUs pending.
