Tea Party
At this fancy party participants were urged to “dress up,” hats and
gloves would were welcome. This party was full of conversations, good food and
entertainment by Sheila and Sherrill Murphy who weaved a tale that created a vintage mood as they utilized clothing and accessories from their
collectibles business “Robins in the Trundle Bed” to enhance their story.

Senior Prom 2007
Gardner High School students hosted a prom for senior citizens on May
10, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. A time for nostalgia,
this dance provided a step back in our memory chests to remember
our high school years. If you never had the chance to attend a prom,
this was your opportunity. Without worrying about being part of a couple, we
borrowed the trend of today; groups of singles came, and enjoyed. There
was music, dancing, food and a theme. A King and Queen were chosen and there were surprises, too. This mixer brought the generations together with
the sole purpose of fun. Thank you for encouraging these young people by attending
this function as they reached out to welcome us.

Intergenerational Arts Project 2007, Elm Street School
Judging by the looks of the faces of both students and teachers, the Intergenerational Arts Project was a success. Some of the genres offered include scrapbooking, wood working, paper sculpture, knitting, crocheting, crafts, and counted cross stitch. The goal of inviting fifth graders to experience being taught the arts by senior citizens is to bring together the populations. Both are beneficiaries. Do to the support of Donna Murphy, art teacher, and the cooperation and encouragement of Joyce Swedberg, principal, the project enjoyed its second year.
