MWCC Library Resource Delivery To
Distance Learning Students

How do I get...?
Library Cards | Books | Journal Articles

How do I get a library card?

MWCC Library cards will be issued to MWCC Distance Learning students. To request a library card, please email us the following information:

  • Name
  • Home address
  • Telephone number
  • Student ID number
  • Email address
  • Other information

Please email these items to: circulation@mwcc.mass.edu

If you use the MS Outlook client for email, you can also use this form to send the information:http://www.mwcc.mass.edu/Library/distancelearning/librarycard.html

(Please note that at this time we are only able to offer online library card registration to enrolled distance learning students - If you are taking classes on campus, please stop by the library and register in person.)

After you have filled out the form completely, and clicked on submit, a library card will be prepared for the student and mailed, to the address provided, along with a copy of the current Student's Guide to the MWCC Library. Distance Learning students are required to comply with all MWCC Library policies. Please expect the library card within a week.

If you need your barcode before then, please indicate this on the registration form, and your barcode will be emailed to you in 2 business days.

To be eligible for a library card, the student's name must appear in the College Registrar's records.

For more information on the library cards, and borrowing privileges, please visit the Circulation Page.

To renew your books online, visit the library webpage: http://www.mwcc.mass.edu/library

1. Click on Library Catalog, then on Your Library Record

2. Read the on-screen instructions, then click on View Your Library Record Now

3. If you've already set up a PIN (Personal Identification Number) for your record, enter your name, barcode number and PIN. If you haven't set up your PIN and are viewing your record for the first time, enter your name and barcode, and leave space for PIN blank. You'll be prompted to enter a new PIN on the next page. If you forget your PIN, you'll need to call the library for us to reset it, so please remember it. Please note that overdue books cannot be renewed

4. Click on Display record and you'll be all set to view your record (see what books you have checked out), and renew your books online.

How can I see what books the Library has?

Please visit the library's homepage at http://www.mwcc.mass.edu/library, and click on the link to Library Catalog.

If a book or journal article is needed for a paper, and the student is not able to visit the library, requests for InterLibrary transfer may be made using the ILL form available on the ILL for Distance Learners page: http://www.mwcc.mass.edu/Library/distancelearning/illdistlearners.html

How can I find a journal article online?

Remote access to the library's databases (such as InfoTrac and EBSCOhost) is available to students with a valid library barcode number. If a student needs immediate access to these databases, this should be indicated on the registration form for the library card, and the barcode number will be sent out in an email within 2 business days.

To log into databases from off-campus (home, work, another library, etc.) please visit the library's webpage (http://www.mwcc.mass.edu/library) and click on Databases. At the next screen, choose the Off-Campus option, and then enter the last nine digits of your library barcode number. On the database page, the user is presented with a list of databases available from home.
